CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM 

Students may earn up to 5 White Character Stripes each month!

                1.  Self Discipline Sheet
                2.  Book Club Sheet
                3.  Home Report Card
                4.  Academic Excellence (see below)
                5.  Academic Excellence (see below).
 
CHARACTER STRIPE POLICY

1)  All children will receive Take Home Character Sheets at the end of each month for the following month..
 
2)  The Self Discipline Sheet and the Book Club Sheet must be complete to receive Character Stripe.  We encourage children to try to fill out these two sheets.
 
3)  Students must receive “S’s” (Satisfactory) or “E’s” (Excellent) to receive a Character Stripe for the Home Report Card.  Any “N’s”(Needs Improvement) or “P’s” (Poor) will have a consequence of no Character stripe for this task.  
    **Parents will fill out the Home Report Card.

4)  The Home Report Card MUST be included for students to receive ANY character stripes for the month. It is unacceptable not to do well at home. Once again, it is mandatory for students to have a satisfactory Home Report Card to receive this stripe. Any child with any “P” mark will forfeit ALL Character Stripes for the month.

5)  To earn Character Stripes for Academic Excellence: Students can bring Tests, Quizzes or Papers with a 100% grade. Students that bring in 2 papers during the month with a 100% grade will earn 1 character stripe. Students that bring in 5 or more papers with a 100% grade will earn 2 character stripes.  
    **Parents, please have your children only turn in appropriate papers.
 
6)  Character Stripes will be distributed in class during the return dates specifically listed on each Sheet. At this time your child will receive the sheets for the following month. If your child does not attend these days then the instructors will distribute the Character Stripes after the end of class.
 
7)  Please STAPLE together all of the papers BEFORE the student turns them in at class.  Also, please WRITE at the top how many stripes the student is earning that month.
 
8)  All children will need a minimum of 3 Character stripes to Test. Since Belt Testing is every 8 weeks, children will be able to earn 10 Character stripes during each testing cycle. During Promotion Test Week, each student with at least 8 Character Stripes will receive a Special Award.  Medals, certificates, patches, etc, it will vary each testing cycle.  To test, more than 3 Character stripes are required! (Unless arrangements are made through Miss Webb)

9)  At the Promotion Test our staff will count each student’s Character stripes and announce a Character Stripe Champion (the most stripes).  Winner will receive a $5 gift card.
